About Us
Although many of us have faced hard times, few of us reading this have faced poverty. Nearly 27 million American women and their families live below the poverty level. Many of these are "the working poor" -- women who are fully employed but economically vulnerable due to low wages and high dependent expenses. Women in female-headed households with no spouse fare significantly worse with over 25% of this group living in poverty (compared with only 5.2% of married couple families).
The mission of Bloom Again Foundation is to provide rapid response financial assistance to economically vulnerable working women when they need it most due to personal or family medical emergencies. Millions of these women are one paycheck away from poverty. They scrape together what's needed to get by from paycheck to paycheck without federal assistance, but one illness in the family, a car accident, or other medical emergency is life-changing for them.
A gift from Bloom Again Foundation provides working women living at or near the poverty level with the security and peace of mind needed to recover from incapacitating illnesses or maintain their households during medical emergencies. 100% of your donation goes directly to women in financial need.
Bloom Again Foundation was founded by Dr. Lois Frankel, author of the international bestsellers Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office, Nice Girls Don't Get Rich, and See Jane Lead, in conjunction with a Board of Directors. The concept was born while Dr. Frankel was being treated for breast cancer and with each day of recovery felt like she was "blooming again." She realized many women need financial assistance to help them "bloom again" during and after illnesses or other medical emergencies so she called on friends and colleagues to help found Bloom Again.
